Consider this a random rewind of covering Stark County sports throughout the last quarter century for The Repository. And it’s often the sounds as much as anything that stand out.

Being on the field for the roar of Ohio State winning a big game over Purdue one Saturday at Ohio Stadium. Hearing that pandemonium one Sunday afternoon in Cleveland Browns Stadium when the home team beat the Falcons to actually make the playoffs. Being in an NBA arena — home or away — when LeBron James takes over a game and the crowd. Even the crushing THWACK of Victor Martinez clubbing his third home run at a nearly empty Safeco Field in Seattle more than a decade ago lives on. Loved that he said he got “good tree” on the ball that night since it sounded as though he swung a redwood.

But most of the greatest sounds — and sights — come from covering high school sports in and around the county.
