Bureau of Workers’ Compensation to switch billing process, allow for enrollment

by Josh Park, Program Support Assistant

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation will switch to prospective billing on July 1, which will switch the premium policy period from a six-month period to a fiscal year. This will run from July 1 to June 30, 2016.

With the transition to prospective billing, private employers can now enroll in programs through the BWC, giving employers the opportunity to save money on workers’ compensation costs, helpbusinesses improve safety in the workplace and enhance care to injured workers.

Member newspapers that currently purchase workers’ compensation through the BWC can also save even more money through the Ohio Newspaper Association. The ONA Workers’ Compensation Group, established in 1991 and run by CompManagement, allows for premium savings through group rating as administered by trade associations.

Employers can participate in the ONA Workers’ Compensation Group during an annual invitation period that’s based on an application process. For an estimate on how much you can save, contact CompManagement at (800) 825-6755, option 3, or for questions regarding group rating, send emails to ohio.group@sedgwickcms.com.
